1) Introduction: Mary hears her cousin Duncan call to her all the way from upper Canada. Mary decides to travel to upper Canada to try to find her cousin Mary starts her journey on the Andrew MacBride.

2) Rising Action: She meets Luke Anderson, an 18 year old boy who gave her a ride to Colliver's corners. Mary finds out that her cousin Duncan died a couple months before she arrived. Mrs. Colliver offers for Mary to stay at her house for as long as she needs to. Mary helps around the farm to raise some money to try and go back to Canada.
3) Climax- Mary finds her cousin, aunt's, and uncle's old house in Hawthorn Bay. Mary decides to live there, untill she makes up her mind about going back to Scotland or staying in upper Canada. Luke spends more time with Mary and asks her to marry him, but she rejects him.
4) Falling Action- Mary has to stay in upper Canada untill next spring if she wants to go back home to Scotland. Mary finds out that her cousin Duncan committed suicide because he was so miserable in upper Canada. Mary has a change in her character and realises that she like it in upper Canada, and decides to accept Luke's offer to marry her.
5) Conclusion- Mary gets a letter from her father, he told her to ether come home, or get married and stay in upper Canada. Mary tells Luke she accepts his offer and they decide to make the wedding in August.
Mary and Luke live happily ever after. :)
1)In "Shadow in Hawthorn Bay" the book is really about a girl named Mary, she is trying to figure why her cousin Duncan isn't replying to her messages. So she basically runs away from home to go to Upper Canada, but on her journey she meets new people.
ReplyDelete2) Mary really starts to like them so she stays at their house for a little while and helps the mom clean and take care of other people. But than they told her that her aunt and uncle had left to go back home. So Mary runs to Duncan's old house and looks inside, in the book they described her sad that she sees nothing. She finds a rock and it said Duncan's grave on it and than she eventually finds out he died awhile ago thats why he didn't reply to her messages.
3)She goes back to the house where they were taking care of her, but after awhile she decides she is going to go to Duncan's house to live. Mary tells people that she is going to live there and they tell her she can't she is just a little girl and doesn't know how to protect herself so she gets a job as a teacher and helps the little kids.
4)Than a few days later a little boy goes to live with her, his name is Henry. But after awhile lots of things start rumbling up, people stop talking to her also they ignore her because she says she can cast spells. After that children stop going to school well because of her saying she can cast spells. They all get scared of that and than she gets fired from her job.
5)A few days everything is getting calm again, Luke and Mary start talking and than everyone starts talking, after awhile in the book Mary and Luke decide to get married and Henry is going to live with them, so in all it was a happy ending.
